Júlia Kozáková stands out as a leading voice in the European world music scene.
Her work is built on a sensitive fusion of contemporary music, jazz, and musical traditions, emphasizing an authentic, deeply personal expression. She studied ethnomusicology at SOAS University of London, flamenco in Sevilla, and jazz at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Currently, she is pursuing her master’s degree in Contemporary Music Performance at Berklee College of Music in Valencia. She built her musical foundation in Slovak folklore ensembles and later in the Roma children’s choir Čhavorenge under the direction of Ida Kelarová.
Her albums Manuša (2022) and Manuša II (2025) both won Radio_Head Awards, with the latter making history as the first-ever Slovak album to reach number one on the World Music Charts Europe. Since the release of her debut album, Júlia has achieved significant international success, performing in over 15 countries, including a concert at New York's Lincoln Center.
In June 2026, she released a live EP of original songs from the Viva Musica! 2025 festival under the Slnko Records label.
